Course details for the Introductory Course: Website Design Course

Introductory Course:

  • Course Objective: By the end of the course you should be able to use the www.create.net system and should have a website which can be published and which includes text and images. 
  • Each participant will use a computer to access the internet and www.create.net
  •  The Course Tutor will use a computer linked to a projector to allow all delegates to follow step by step instructions on how to set up their own site.

Session 1 (4 hours)

  • An introduction to websites for businesses
  • Different ways to get your own website
  • The www.create.net system: How it works.
  • A review of sample websites
  •  Registration  with www.create.net
  • Introduction to creating a basic site
    • Colours and Design
    • Site Content
    • Preview/Publish
    • Your Account
    • Questions/guides
  • Planning Site Content
ONE WEEK BREAK
  • During the one week break you will be asked to plan your site content so that you can upload information to your site at the second session. If you have access to a computer at home or work you can, of course, start before session 2.

Session 2 (4 hours)

    • editing page content
    • editing page headings and menu content

    • Text
      • Font
      • Size
      • Colour
      • Correcting
    • Images
    • Optimising images
    • Logos
    • HTML content
    • Tables
    • Forms

  • Creating Links
    • Internal Links
    • External Links
  • Previewing your site
  • Publishing your site
